The origin of the close friendship of Íñigo Onieva and Edwin Arrieta's lawyer

The crime of the Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrieta was one of the most talked about news stories in the Spanish social chronicle in recent months. The events that occurred on the island of Koh Phangan, in Thailand, last August, conditioned a large part of the television schedule due to one name: Daniel Sancho. The Spaniard surrendered to the authorities after confessing to having dismembered the victim.

Since then, the cook has spent his days in Koh Samui prison, and since last week he has been immersed in a judicial process where the maximum penalty is capital punishment. In this sense, thousands of pieces of information have appeared in a multitude of media, from the ins and outs of Rodolfo Sancho and Silvia Bronchalo to Arrieta's closest circle. In this sense, a friendship with his lawyer stands out: the businessman Íñigo Onieva.

The husband of the Marchioness of Griñón and Juan Gonzalo Ospina have known each other for several years, belonging to a group of friends known as “The Curris”. The lawyer attended the wedding between his partner and Tamara Falcó last summer, dedicating a message to her on his social networks: “Love and happiness for two unique couples. Thank you for making us feel so special, being by your side, on an unforgettable weekend. Tamara and Íñigo, may you be very happy.”

In general terms, the group has remained united and has carried out different adventure activities immortalized on their Instagram profiles. His experiences include trips to Baqueira-Beret, Sotogrande, Stockholm and Budapest, among other European destinations. During much of these activities Onieva was still single, while Ospina remained united with his wife, Blanca Saenz de Pipaon.

Regarding his professional activity, the lawyer is gradually becoming one of the most visible faces in the Daniel Sancho trial. Ospina has been able to provide information to the Spanish media in the face of strict judicial restrictions. A fact shared with his arrival to the Arrieta family, after statements about how the victim's closest circle contacted him.

“In September they arrived at our office. They experienced firsthand the atrocious death of a loved one. They were absolutely overwhelmed by the situation. When they walked through the door, we felt a special strength and energy, which we knew were here to stay. We talked about the possible steps to follow, and how, the only thing we could offer was our procedural experience, common sense and the desire to do justice,” he explained.
