The new batch of 'nepo babies' who want to be artists: from Ava Salazar (Paz Vega) to Paula Vicente (Judit Mascó)

The "sons of" of a lifetime now some have taken to calling them nepo babies, something like the babies of nepotism. Without a doubt, it sounds better than plugged in, but they are still just that, young people who successfully follow (and more easily than the rest of mortals) in the footsteps of their famous parents. And if a new generation of models like Kaia Gerber and Kendall Jenner, actresses like Dakota Johnson and Lily Collins or singers Miley Cyrus, with a famous last name, has flourished in Hollywood, in Spain we were not going to be less.

The new batch of Spanish nepo babies joins an already consolidated promotion with names like Greta Fernández, Enrique Iglesias, Tamara Falcó, Lucía Rivera, Alba Flores, Miguel Bernardeau, Bad Gyal or Candela Serrat. Some have taken advantage of the surname, others have changed it and a few have even surpassed the success of their parents.

Among the new nepo babies that have been making a name for themselves, due to her age, Ava Salazar, the middle daughter of actress Paz Vega and her husband, Orson Salazar, stands out. At the age of 13, she has already participated as an actress in the Disney series Paquita Salas and Campamento Newton, and in the movie La casa del snail, in which she acts alongside her mother.

“I'm not going to make it easier for her, but I will help her in whatever way I can, especially with advice, because I'm back. But not making the path easier, because you have to get where you have to go by your own means and the fact that my daughter is my daughter is not going to make it any easier. She does her castings and I have nothing to do with it, I don't want to get involved, ”the actress confessed in an interview with Vanity Fair.

Ava and Paz follow the example of other veterans such as Belén Écija, 29, the daughter of Belén Rueda, both actresses; and Luna, the 24-year-old daughter of Rossy de Palma, who, like her, has already walked on some catwalks, such as last month in Paris for Juana Martin.

New faces with well-known surnames are those of Paula Vicente Mascó and Ainara Elejalde Biel. The two are two young Catalan actresses. Paula is the daughter of the model Judit Mascó. She made her theater debut at the age of 19, and now at 23, she has already participated in series such as SKAM 3T for Movistar and Cucut for TV3; She also continues to be devoted to the theater. Ainara, 22, is the daughter of actor Karra Elejalde and actress Silvia Bel, and although she has accompanied her father on some red carpets, her debut has now come with the film Els Encantats, which was presented at the last Festival de Malaga.

A few days ago, the artist Ángela Molina posed with her daughter Olivia and, for the first time, the youngest of her five children, María Blakstad, 19, the result of her marriage to Canadian businessman Leo Blakstad. The young woman wants to follow in the footsteps of her artistic family, but behind the cameras, since she is going to study Cinematography.

This week Helena Sardà, daughter of journalist Xavier Sardà, who works as a journalist like her father in Qatar, has also been seen for the first time on the catwalk as a model. And it remains to be seen what María Washington, the daughter of actress Miriam Díaz-Aroca and niece of television actress Belinda Washington, who shone on the blue carpet at the Goya Awards last February, is going to dedicate herself to.
