The method that the Civil Guard has used to find Ivo Petrov: the conditions that have made it difficult to find the minor

This Thursday, the Civil Guard located the lifeless body of Ivo Petrov, the 15-year-old minor who disappeared in the early hours of January 5 in the waters of the Mar Menor, as confirmed by sources close to the investigation.

The discovery occurred twenty days after his disappearance, and as reported, the authorities had located the body submerged in the sea at a depth of about five meters and at a distance of between 1,000 and 1,500 meters from the port of Los Alcázares. and in front of the yacht club.

The young man disappeared in early January when the canoe he was sailing in with some friends capsized. It was a resident of Los Alcázares who notified the authorities that he was hearing cries for help from the waters of the Mar Menor. Several members of the civil guard and the local police of the municipality aboard a rescue boat went out to sea that same night, managing to locate two of the members of the canoe alive.

From that moment, the authorities began search work by land, sea and air to locate Ivo Petrov. The young man's lifeless body has been transferred to the forensic anatomical center in Cartagena, where an autopsy will be performed in order to clarify the facts.

This Thursday, the Sonsoles Ónega program provided more information about the case and revealed the method that the Civil Guard had used to find Ivo Petrov. Journalist Carlos Quílez revealed that the discovery occurred at a few minutes past noon thanks to a 12-meter boat, which was piloted by a member of the Civil Guard underwater group.

''The boat was dragging, with a search system called a trawl diver, a tied companion, who was practically being dragged by a cable from the seabed. The boat was going at one knot of speed, that is, very slowly, and this man was touching the ground with his feet and hands. And suddenly he found himself face to face with the body of the boy, who was completely lying down in the marine subsoil, without his shoes, but he was still wearing clothes,' explained the collaborator.

However, many have come to wonder why it had taken authorities so long to find the lifeless body of the 15-year-old boy. The journalist assured in the Antena 3 space that two factors had influenced it. The first, the small size of the body, since being so thin and small it was practically impossible for it to float to the surface. And the second, the icy currents that exist from three to five meters deep.
