Televisión Española continues to work hard to bring back its best-known summer program: the 'Grand Prix'. At the moment, several of the essential details are known, such as the debut of the "Superheifer", the choice of the streamer Cristinini and the actress Michelle Calvó to present with Ramón García, and the eight towns chosen to compete. However, close sources point out that this last piece was more difficult to fit.
As reported this morning by El Confidencial Digital, the list of locations participating in this year's edition was altered on several occasions. The reason, to say the least curious: the municipal elections on May 28. According to ECD, the elections left out of the mayor's office some of the leaders who had already confirmed their express desire to be present on the program.
Once the administrations were reviewed, the Televisión Española team found some rejections at the table, from the new mayors. The initiative to compete in the summer 'Grand Prix' did not continue in some of the preselected municipalities. This forced the public entity to revise the list of towns and cities and choose again. Currently, the problem is already solved and the recordings will start at the end of the month.
The process of participation in the 'Grand Prix' was initiated by Televisión Española itself, sending a formal invitation to all towns in Spain with a population between 5,000 and 10,000 inhabitants. Once the request was received, those interested populations had to send information about their land and a video explaining why they wanted to participate. After sending all the material, the original selection was made by lottery before a notary public.
From there came the eight towns chosen to participate in this 2023 edition. On this occasion, they are Aguilar del Campo (Palencia), Alfacar (Granada), Brión (A Coruña), Cervelló (Barcelona), Colmenarejo (Madrid), Los Montesinos (Alicante), Tineo (Asturias) and Yepes (Toledo). These towns will compete from next July on La 1 for a place in the list of winners held by places like Guijuelo (Salamanca), Tordera (Barcelona) or Ador (Valencia).
Along with them are added some of the novelties of the program. As we have previously commented, this edition of the 'Grand Prix' will include the "Superheifer". In order to circumvent the Animal Protection Law, the contest will choose to disguise one of its participants with a Heifer costume. In this way, he will become a wild card for his team, whose mission will be to hinder the rival through three different modalities: throwing liquids, objects or covering his eyes.
