The emotional message that Demi Moore dedicated to Bruce Willis for his birthday: “We love you”

Bruce Willis turned 69 yesterday and spent it with his family. Both his daughter Rumer and his ex-wife, actress Demi Moore, uploaded photos of the celebration to their networks.

The 61-year-old actress shared a post with three photos of the actor. One current, another of Bruce playing with his granddaughter Louetta and a third from Willis' nineties with his daughters. "Happy birthday, BW! We love you and are so grateful for you," Moore wrote in the post.

It should be remembered that Demi and Bruce married in 1987 and divorced in 2000. Today they maintain an excellent friendship, in addition to being parents of Rumer, Scout and Tallulah.

In March 2022, Bruce's family announced the actor's retirement from acting after being diagnosed with aphasia, a language or speech deficiency caused by damage to the left side of the brain, which in turn makes it difficult to read, listen or write.

However, less than a year later, reflecting his advanced cognitive decline, it was revealed that Willis suffered from frontotemporal dementia. Since then, the actor has found it difficult to recognize members of his family and, according to the testimony of an uncle, he would no longer recognize even his mother.

At the end of 2023 it was learned that his health would be worsening faster than normal. Glenn Gordon Caron, his friend and creator of the Moonlight series, spoke with The Washington Post about the actor's health and what he said was not encouraging at all.

''I try to go visit him every month, but I'm not always that good,' he admitted. Additionally, I talk to him and his wife, and I have a casual relationship with his three oldest children. I've tried really hard to stay in his life,' Caron said. And he detailed: ''My feeling is that between one and three minutes he knows who I am. "He's not totally verbal."

Despite everything, Willis' wife still hopes that her husband will not continue to get worse. "I have much more hope today than I had with the first diagnosis. Now I understand this disease more, and I am connected to an incredible community that supports me," she wrote on social media some time ago.

Frontotemporal dementia is a type of neurodegenerative dementia, different from Alzheimer's. It is not as common as this disease, but it is not considered 'rare' or uncommon either.

It is called frontotemporal because it mainly affects cell death in the area of the frontal and temporal lobes. There are different types of frontotemporal dementia, some present with more behavioral psychiatric symptoms and others with more cognitive symptoms or a mixture.

It is a neurodegenerative process, just like Alzheimer's, which occurs in a smaller proportion. It is not the same as Alzheimer's, but it falls within the group of neurodegenerative pathologies.
