The Spanish photographer Alberto Clavijo has died this morning in Mexico City, at the age of 32. The Mexican journalist Daniel Bisogno has been in charge of disseminating the events on television and on the country's social networks. As he recounted in his story, Clavijo would have fallen into the void from a fourth floor while participating in a promotional event in Parque Bicentenario, an area that citizens had denounced for unsafe conditions.
"A colleague and very dear friend of mine fell from the fourth floor. They transported him by ambulance but, unfortunately, the doctors at the Spanish hospital to which they took him could not do anything for him," Bisogno explained in the program where he announced the loss. According to local media, Clavijo was participating in a photo session for a special event, a collaboration between the Smirnoff vodka brand and RBD, the musical band from the Rebelde series.
“At these events, where they care so much about clothing or sound, they should care more about the safety of journalists. There is no excuse for Alberto to be in a place where there was no warning of danger. The site should have been protected by security guards, ”said the Mexican journalist after sending his condolences to his family. For his part, Smirnoff has ruled out his or RBD's culpability in the matter.
The brand of alcoholic beverages has issued a statement, clarifying that the organization of this event was not on their account. “We know that this is a sad and difficult situation. We have contacted the right people and organizers of the event, to understand what happened and help in this situation. It should be clarified that the group, image of the campaign; nor his team, they were part of the organization of the event and they were not on the site during what happened.”
In this way, the company places all the responsibility for what happened on the Talent Industry agency and the content creator Pablo Ahumada. In the same way, the indicated person responded to the statement, ruling out his involvement in the events: “Neither my company nor I had anything to do with the organization of the event. As part of the team, we only negotiate the commercial and MKT campaign with the talent. Our deepest condolences to family and friends."
Born in Logroño, Clavijo began his career as a photographer in Spain, participating as a collaborator in the LGTBIQ Shangay news portal. It was later in his life that he moved to Mexico and began to stand out with the help of different events and photographs in his charge. There he went on to found El Clavo, his own brand and creative agency, from where he was able to capture a multitude of well-known faces of current events in Mexico and defend the rights of the LGTBIQ community.
