With this recent career, one might think that he would return to television from the thriller, a genre that has given him such unanimous applause, but that will not be the case: Los Años Nuevos, his new series for Movistar Plus, will be a more sentimental series.
It features Francesco Carril and Iria del Río, who already worked under him in Antiriot, as Óscar and Ana. They celebrate the end of the year with a curious characteristic: Óscar celebrates his 30th birthday on New Year's Eve and Ana turns 30 on New Year's Eve. Of course, from very different starting points: he has a structured life (doctor, stable job, faithful friends) and she is the complete opposite (shared apartment, a job that he hates, changing friends). And, when they fall in love on that night when they are both celebrating, fiction follows them for the next decade.
"I have always been interested in the world of couples. What makes two people attracted to each other, to love each other, to form a team. The sadness of disappointments, the pain that comes with separation, the time we spend remembering each other, the hope of second chances. And, above all, how life passes and one, who is always the same, stops being as he was and wonders if after the years he is prepared to love and love himself better," Sorogoyen explained in a statement.

New Years has already been in the process of filming since October 2. At the moment, he is in Madrid, although he is expected to visit Lyon, Berlin and other locations in the Community of Madrid in the coming months. He shoots four of the ten 50-minute episodes while Sandra Romero and David Martín de los Santos share the rest.
