Spanish Television has started the new television season with a bang, launching new formats and making notable signings. From the arrival of Jaime Cantizano and the return of Jordi González, through the premieres of Salón de Te La Moderna and El Conquistador, the adaptation of the renowned EiTB format. However, this past Monday's broadcast of the contest has generated a considerable wave of criticism and negative comments.
The space presented by Julián Iantzi and Raquel Sánchez Silva eliminated a new contestant in its last installment, with Guyo Ochoa being the fifth victim of the adventure. Beyond the dart that he left to his teammates after the decisive test, it was one of the previous challenges that left a greater impact on social networks: Caníbales. The test, “not suitable for finolis” according to Iantzi, had a dead pig as the main protagonist.
Being one of the crudest segments broadcast on television in Spain, it consisted of transporting blood with the mouth from a barrel full of intestines to a test tube. Once they had overcome this obstacle, they had to tear out meat and viscera with their teeth from a pig that was hanging and opened in half, all tied up and having to transport it to a box. The challenge ended with the red team disqualified for throwing the tube, the blue team with immunity and the green team in the poor camp.
The brutality of the test, despite the warnings of the presenters, filled social networks with comments and reactions of rejection, showing their psychological and even physical discomfort about it. “Today's program about the conquistador is making me really sick, it's opening my stomach, I feel like vomiting... let the test be over, really...”, explained a user on X (Twitter).
“How disgusting the El Conquistador program is, I was having dinner and I lost my appetite,” read another of the responses. There was also room for discussion, particularly after this message: “My 8-year-old daughter Laia has an anxiety attack after watching the test with the wild boar. I find it disgusting that this is allowed on public TV paid for by everyone! Now my daughter can't sleep because of the nightmares she has AND TOMORROW THERE IS SCHOOL.”
A user, taking into account the data provided, sent a forceful reply to the offended user: “1. He's a pig. 2. What is an 8-year-old girl doing at 11:00 p.m. watching TV. 3. It is a program for 16. 4. There were warnings that the test could offend sensitivities. “If you write a tweet like that, acting indignant, the least that can be said to you is that YOU ARE A BAD MOTHER.”
