Oscars 2024: schedule, nominees and where to watch the gala

Hollywood chooses its favorite film this morning in a year in which almost all the focus has been on Barbie and Oppenheimer, the great favorite for the 96th edition of the Oscars, which are being held tonight at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. (California, USA).

Oppenheimer, by British filmmaker Christopher Nolan, leads with 13 nominations, followed by Poor Things, by Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos, with 11 nominations. Behind them is Killers of the Flower Moon with 10 nominations, which marks the return of Martin Scorsese to Hollywood.

For its part, the commercial phenomenon Barbie, by Greta Gerwig, had to settle for eight nominations after an awards season in which it has been faltering in the recognitions of the most important sections.

The four films will compete in the Oscar's queen category, best film, against American Fiction, Anatomy of a Fall, The Holdovers, Maestro, Past Lives and The Zone of Interest.

Our country will also be attentive to what happens at the 96th edition of the Oscar Awards. The Spanish film The Snow Society by Juan Antonio Bayona, which narrates the struggle of the survivors of the Andes air tragedy, will fight for the statuette for Best International Film and Best Makeup and Hair Design.

Bayona will not be the only Spanish representative. The film Robot Dreams, by Bilbao native Pablo Berger, will also compete for the Oscar for best animated film.

The 96th edition of the Oscar Awards will be held in the early hours of Sunday, March 10, at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles (California, USA). The gala will begin at 00:00 Spanish time. It can be seen on television on Movistar and can also be followed live on La Vanguardia.
