"When I finally told my friends and family that I was gay, after being scared and in the closet for 18 years, all they said was 'we know,'" he explained emotionally. Since Noah Schnapp decided to open up to the public, he has not hesitated to show himself as he is. In June of this same year, he was able to enjoy his first LGTBIQ Pride in New York, surrounded by his parents and his best friends. In addition, he is clear that he wants to talk about this issue openly.
In his latest statements for the aforementioned medium, Schnapp wanted to tell how he confessed everything to his great friend Millie Bobby Brown, interpreter of Eleven. Although he says that he tried to do it in person, he could not get it. "So I FaceTimed him one day in the middle of a party and said, 'Millie, I'm gay,'" he said. "'Oh, Schnapper! You finally tell me!'" was the reaction of the actress.
However, if there is something that has truly changed his life, it has been playing Will Byers in Stranger Things. Some fans of the series claimed that the character was gay, something that pleased Noah Schnapp. "I think he made me feel it more deeply," he has stated. After this, the actor himself confirmed on social networks that Will was indeed homosexual.
"Once I fully accepted that Will was gay, the rate at which I accepted myself increased exponentially," he has confessed. "I would be in a completely different place if I didn't have Will to play him, and to love me and help me accept myself. I think if I had never played that role, I would probably still be in the closet," he has confessed.
In addition, he has stated what he felt when he posted the aforementioned TikTok video. “I didn't want to sit there nervously waiting to see what people were going to say,” she recounted. "I just wanted to put it away and be confident in who I am and know that I no longer have to worry about what people think," she continued.
Therefore, he decided to turn off his mobile for a few hours. “When I opened my phone at the end of the car ride, it had like a thousand messages of hearts and congratulations and rainbow flags. She was crying. I thought: 'I did it. She is already. I don't have to worry,'” she expressed.
