Mick Jagger, 79, the famous frontman for the Rolling Stones, has been engaged to his partner of years, ballet dancer Melanie Hamrick, 36. The rumors surfaced after Hamrick was seen wearing a diamond ring that friends close to the couple have told British media is an engagement ring.
Hamrick was recently seen in New York, where she reportedly confirmed the news of the engagement to friends. "Melanie was at the American Ballet Theater and she told her friends that she was engaged to Mick," an anonymous source told The Mirror.
"His family also understands that they are committed and they are delighted," added the source. The couple, however, do not appear to have any immediate wedding plans, although the idea of engagement holds significant significance for Hamrick, who is the mother of one of Jagger's children.
The aforementioned source further stated that the ring Hamrick was wearing, which was initially described as a fiancee ring, is actually an engagement ring. In fact, the dancer had previously laughed off engagement rumors, insisting that the ring was simply a symbol of promise and there wasn't much more to tell.
When initially asked about the ring last November, Hamrick playfully replied: "I have to laugh because, did Mick give me the ring? Yes. Is it for that finger? Yes. But are we like teenagers giving away. In My mind, it's a promise ring. We'll be immature and call it a promise ring."
This fact marks a new chapter in the life of Jagger, who has been the father of eight children with five different women. Despite the uncertainty of her plans, both the fiancée and those close to her are looking forward to the legendary rocker going down the aisle again.
