After several months limiting his public appearances, Mario Vargas Llosa has reappeared in the Dominican Republic. He has not done it alone, but with him was Patricia Llosa, who accompanied him for a very special reason: she came to the country to receive nationality in an act that took place in the National Palace.
An honor already announced by the president of the Caribbean country, Luis Abinader, after receiving the visit of the winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature, who would have "decided to spend a large part of his time here in the Dominican Republic." Given that decision, the politician would have asked him to accept citizenship.
Abinader expressed to the press the "happiness" that is for the country that "such a distinguished person, so admired by all of us" has made "that decision to spend a large part of his time in the country." Vargas Llosa, for his part, praised the country, where he has "many friends" and where he was inspired to write works such as La fiesta del chivo.
This will be his third nationality, since the Peruvian writer was also a Spanish national.
A reappearance that occurs after his controversial break with Isabel Preysler at the end of last year, which ended with all kinds of information about the couple coming to light. A break that the author of Los Cachorros came to describe as recovery of his "freedom" after eight years of romance with the socialite.
The true reasons for the break have not been revealed, since there are many theories that exist: jealousy on the part of the writer, excessive control of Preysler... Nothing confirmed, much speculated.
Since the breakup, the meetings between Vargas Llosa and his ex-wife and mother of his children, Patricia Llosa, have been frequent. She was by his side when he was exceptionally inducted as a new member of the French Academy, and also at all family events. A union, which is not yet known if reconciliation, that totally separates him from Isabel Preysler and her life in Puerta de Hierro.
What's more, the departure of Mario Vargas Llosa from the fabulous mansion of Isabel Preysler could have brought the socialite some other problem. As reported in The Ana Rosa program, Preysler's economic situation would not be the most buoyant at the moment. The high costs of Tamara Falcó's connection, together with the absence of Vargas Llosa, who covered part of the daily expenses when she lived with Isabel Preysler, would have left the socialite short of cash.
For the moment, Isabel Preysler would have had to make a plan to minimize expenses, laying off several domestic employees and accepting job offers that she might not otherwise have done, such as her next docuseries on Disney Plus, in which she will open the doors of his home for viewers.
