Maribel Verdú celebrates 25 years with her love: "8M is always twice as important for me"

Maribel Verdú is one of the most international Spanish actresses today, and since she began in the world of acting at just 13 years old, her four decades of experience have placed her at levels that only the greats of Spanish cinema have been able to reach.

The triumphs that Maribel Verdú has achieved in acting are known, but little is known about her personal life, and the fact is that the Madrid native has always been very reserved with her most intimate and family side. However, the actress decided to make an exception to celebrate her 25-year anniversary with her husband, Pedro Larrañaga, whom she married in 1999.

The actress turned to her official Instagram profile to commemorate this significant anniversary with the man of her life, sharing an image of both of them together, very smiling and hugging, accompanied by a heartfelt message.

"Today is Women's Day, but I also celebrate 25 years with the love of my life," writes the actress, referring to her husband. "So March 8 is always twice as important to me"

The protagonist of Pan's Labyrinth has always been very discreet about her relationship, although from time to time she shares photographs with her followers with her husband, a theater producer and son of the actors Carlos Larrañaga and María Luisa Merlo; and whom she met through her brother, the also well-known actor Luis Merlo, as she recognized in Planeta Calleja.

"When I met him, he made five movies a year, because what I wanted was to get out of my house. But since we've been together, what I like is to enjoy life with him," said the actress.

Always discreet about their relationship, their wedding was no different and little is known about the marriage. The couple said "I do" on September 2, 1999 in a chalet in La Moraleja, just a year after beginning their relationship; and that day forever marked the destiny of the actress, who had never wanted to marry... Until she met her now husband.

"Since I was very little I have been clear that I did not want to lead a conventional life. That I did not want to get married, or have children, or go to the shopping centers on the weekend, to live the life that perhaps I have had around me," Verdú confessed in an interview with El Economista.

In one of the few interviews in which she has talked about her personal life, the actress revealed the secret to her success in love. "Meeting my husband is the best thing that has happened to me in my life. The secret of ours is very clear: loving each other, respecting each other, admiring each other, that there is no rivalry between us, laughing at all hours... and something very important, sex, because if we didn't understand each other in bed, we would become friends.

A life project in which they continue to support each other, living happily and not letting more than two weeks pass without seeing each other.

The couple decided not to have children together, and the actress has always been clear that she did not want to be a mother. Now, they enjoy her grandson, since the theater producer is the grandfather of a teenager who had his only child, the result of a youth relationship.
