María Jiménez, genius and figure summed up in her eight most mythical phrases

The singer, dancer and actress María Jiménez died early this Thursday at the age of 73 at her home in Triana (Seville), as confirmed by her relatives in a statement sent to Europa Press.

Our country says goodbye to a flamenco revolutionary who reaped fifty successful years, in which she published eighteen albums, as well as acting in films and television series. In that almost endless list, her album (1978) It's over stands out, whose first single became an absolute success in Spain and Mexico, with casual lyrics about a woman fed up with a situation of abuse.

On the extra-musical level, the singer founded the María Jiménez Foundation in 2022 to fight against gender violence as a result of her own personal experience, after denouncing the mistreatment of her husband for more than twenty years, the actor Pepe Sancho.

The Andalusian has never bitten her tongue, because the artist had "an indomitable spirit, an overwhelming personality, a strong and courageous woman", according to the letter signed by her son, Alejandro Jiménez.

Throughout these years, he has left phrases to remember. One of them in one of her last television appearances, when she was interviewed by Bertín Osborne in My house is yours (2020). Jiménez recalled that she was able to overcome a delicate moment of health, with reproach included to the presenter: "On all the televisions they announced that I had the last minutes of my life left, and you took advantage and put the program, suckers."

In that same interview, the artist joked about everything that had been said about her, on account of her delicate state of health and recovered the mythical "she was not dead, she was partying."

She also remembered when Juan de Borbón, father of the current king emeritus, asked her to sing for him, she replied "I only sing when I feel like it... and my pussy doesn't sing here." Without mincing words, once again.

María Jiménez has left other moments to remember. For example, her fight live with the presenter Ana Rosa Quintana, in front of Sabor a ti on Antena 3. The singer came on the phone to reproach the journalist for not liking how they were treating her: "You are paying all these characters talking bad about me. I'm up to my ass. Shall I tell you who you sucked off to get to where you are?"

The Andalusian used the word "cunt" very regularly. "And with my life I do what comes out of my very pussy, that you all know," she snapped at the press very angrily.

María Jiménez had something for everyone. Her opinion was also very well known when she was asked in Sálvame Deluxe about the break between María Teresa Campos and Mustache Arrocet: "He is a whore because he always has a lot of women around him."

In that interview, he left other phrases to remember. For example, when she was asked if she had ever offered him money in exchange for sex: "I wish. She would be doubly millionaire." And she assured that she had had a very active sexual life. "I threw myself at everything that moved," she stressed.
