Letizia recycles a flattering Victorian jumpsuit 'made in Spain' at FITUR

The Fitur tourism fair opened its doors this Wednesday at the Ifema venue in Madrid with the traditional inaugural tour by the Kings, in a 44th edition whose main themes are 'sustainability' and 'accessibility'. An annual event on the royal agenda where the outfits of both are carefully analyzed, in search of any relevant detail.

On this occasion, Queen Letizia has recovered a very striking look that she has worn before. It is signed by the Catalan designer Teresa Helbig, one of the most powerful brands made in Spain at a national and international level, and which recently triumphed in her first pop-up in New York.

It is a very atypical Victorian style jumpsuit, in black and off-white, buttoned with ruffle details on the neckline. The garment has a very complex and avant-garde design, where a romantic blouse is interrupted by a tight, corseted black body, which slides to the Queen's feet through culotte-type pleated pants.

The design belongs to the Opium autumn/winter 2020/21 collection, inspired by 1840s China, which was presented on the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid catwalk. As the Catalan firm specified in a press release, it drank from “the fusion between two cultures, the English and its very eccentric British style, and the oriental, with its passion for tradition and things well done.”

It is not the first time that Letizia uses this garment. The Queen wore it for the first time on November 17, 2022 in what was her first official visit to Croatia. On that occasion she combined it with high-heeled, pointed-toe boots from Nina Ricci, while this year she has replaced them with black pumps from PINKCHIC.
