Julio Iglesias signs an agreement with Netflix to tell his life in a series

Television caught biopic fever and now there is no way to cure it. After biographical series about Veneno, Miguel Bosé, Bárbara Rey, Nacho Vidal or that of the singer Tamara in progress, Julio Iglesias now joins the club. The singer has signed an agreement with Netflix by which the platform will bring his life to the screen with his advice and participation in the creative process, in line with the agreement that Luis Miguel signed at the time to produce Luis Miguel, the Serie.

The series, still in development, will tell the story of a man who, against all odds, made a name for himself in the Anglo-Saxon and Asian markets as one of the great vocalists in music despite singing in Spanish. He is not oversized. He is among the five biggest record sellers in history, according to Netflix, in the 55 years of his career in recording studios and on stage.

“After so many speculations, books and documentaries in which I have not participated, for the first time I have decided to tell the truth of my life to a universal company like Netflix. After much thought, a very exciting letter sent to me by Bela Bajaria, vice president of content at Netflix, was enough to convince me that Netflix was the ideal company to carry out this project. I feel grateful to so many people from so many countries who have supported me and encouraged my life,” said Julio Iglesias.

From Netflix, vice president of content Diego Ávalos wanted to thank Iglesias for “his generosity” and for trusting the company for telling his life story: “We all know that his talent and tenacity are unique in the world. Now we will have the opportunity to see beyond the lights, the photos in magazines, the gold records and get to know in depth an exceptional person who has accompanied and will accompany many generations from any corner of the planet.”

The series can be expected, for example, to show how he started in the youth categories of Real Madrid and finished his law career until an accident ended his career as an elite footballer. In the 70s, however, he redefined himself as a successful singer and in the 80s he reached the five continents to become, for example, the most popular foreign artist in China.

It remains to be seen, however, how he focuses on his high-profile private life, which includes numerous romances and adulterous adventures, in addition to his relationship with Isabel Preysler, who gave him his three oldest children (Chábeli, Julio and Enrique), and with Miranda Rynsburger. , with whom he had five other children (Miguel Alejandro, Rodrigo, Victoria, Cristina and Guillermo). Having creative control, we will have to see to what extent he is sincere in the most personal sphere.
