"It looks frayed": Gloria Camila's controversial vest with shoulder pads

Since the inauguration of her fashion brand on March 1, Gloria Camila has been dedicated to showing her designs to her extensive Instagram community. Under the name Bakkus, the television collaborator has created a collection of office basics, among which fluid two-pieces and linen garments stand out.

Although her project has been well received in its first month of life and that most of the garments have simple and basic cuts, her latest style has caused controversy due to its finish and extreme pattern design.

"Here, like someone who doesn't want the thing with my Bakkus look," writes the influencer along with a gallery of images in which she shows a monochromatic white look. The design has generated all kinds of comments, some praising its style and others, precisely, questioning it: "Do shoulder pads have to look like that?" writes one Internet user.

"In the last photo the shoulder pad looks frayed," says one of Gloria Camila's followers. He is referring to the Formentera vest, a tailored garment with an asymmetrical cut and a collar that shows off extreme "visible" shoulder pads, as the designer herself relates on the firm's official account.

Like it or not, the shoulder pads that triumphed in the 1980s have made a strong comeback this year. The designer wanted to give a twist to the trend with an extreme shoulder pad that also leaves the inside of the lining visible.

The controversial design does not, however, tarnish the businesswoman's success in the mid-range fashion industry. Bakkus' Instagram account accumulates more than 9,000 followers in one month with just nine posts.
