How to properly clean black appliances so that no traces are left

Dark tones always add extra elegance, whether to a car, clothing, or your kitchen furniture! Black appliances are one of the decoration trends that are triumphing this year, but it is important to know the tricks to keep them always pristine. Black surfaces tend to get fingerprints and daily activity in the kitchen can cause scratches to appear. Below, we explain how you should clean black appliances step by step so that they do not lose their shiny appearance.

Plush cloths are soft, velvety and have great absorption power, making them ideal for cleaning your kitchen appliances without causing scratches. Wet one and drain it well to remove excess moisture. Next, spray an ammonium-based detergent (not ammonia) on the cloth, whether it is a glass cleaner or a multi-purpose product.

Alternatively, you can opt for a homemade solution of water, vinegar and a few drops of dishwashing liquid. Spray the product on the surface and wipe first with a damp cloth and then with a dry cloth to disinfect the appliance and remove the bulk of the dirt.

After this first pass it is likely that some stubborn stains or scratches will remain. To remove them, soak a microfiber cloth in warm water with dishwashing liquid and rub over the dirt. You should never use an aluminum scouring pad or any other abrasive item that can cause more scratches. A magic eraser is a good alternative.

For those who prefer a homemade solution, you can also mix baking soda with a couple of drops of dish soap. Then use an old toothbrush to apply it and rub it on the stains and gobs embedded in the surfaces.

Once you have removed the dirt from the appliances, it is time to shine them. It is advisable to reserve some normal cloth or microfiber cloths, of a certain color to differentiate them, that have this use exclusively to prevent them from accumulating soap residue. Gently wipe your appliances with one of these clean, dry cloths to polish them easily and without excessive scrubbing.

You should do this immediately after cleaning the appliances, since if you polish when the detergent is dry, it will be more difficult to remove any remaining scratches. When you're done, remember to put these cloths aside to wash them separately.
