From Antonio Yatchs and Cupra, a clean water hybrid

At the beginning of 2021, Cupra and De Antonio Yatchs presented a showboat inspired by the Formentor that sported the design elements and the identifying colors of the successful SUV from the Martorell firm. At the end of that year, the D28 Formentor was launched, a high-performance yacht with 8 meters in length and 400 CV of power capable of reaching a maximum speed of 40 knots.

Painted in the recognizable Petrol Blue, the hull featured black and carbon fiber accents, along with a number of VW Group SUV identifiers. Its exterior design stood out for the straight lines that accentuated its elegance, sportiness and dynamism, and for the use of unconventional tones.

Less than a year ago, the collaboration between the Barcelona shipyard and the Catalan automobile firm was expanded and consolidated with the presentation of the new D28 Formentor e-Hybrid, launched this 2023. In this way, the commitment to sustainability and performance of both brands, on the asphalt and on the water, was reinforced with the first electrified yacht from De Antonio Yachts. The development of this hybrid vessel means committing to innovation and going one step further towards environmentally friendly mobility, also at sea.

Its propulsion system is made up of a 400 CV heat engine and two 15 kW (20 CV) retractable electric motors, which make it possible to navigate in combustion mode or in 100% electric mode. The latter allows the D28 to move in restricted waters, such as ports or lakes, without polluting the environment and with very low noise emissions. The Formentor e-Hybrid is now also offered with the optional Graphene Gray paint – the same as in the Cupra color palette – in combination with a synthetic teak deck and gray upholstery.

Cupra and De Antonio Yachts are two challenging companies in their respective industries and their shared goal is to create a universe of automotive and nautical experiences that represent the lifestyle of both brands through a range of challenging products that are far from the traditional.
