Eugenia Martínez de Irujo, devastated at the funeral of María Jiménez

It has been a week to forget for culture in our country. Last Tuesday, María Teresa Campos, an iconic presenter in our country, lost her life at the age of 82. The death of the veteran presenter shocked the whole world, however, this was not the only death that surprised our country, since the singer María Jiménez, at the age of 73, also left during the early hours of Thursday. Precisely, the artist was fired in style this Friday in her native Seville. There were many recognized faces who came to the place, one of them, Eugenia Martínez de Irujo, who seemed very affected.

The artist was farewell with the warmth of her family and the masses this Friday. Her coffin was carried in a horse-drawn carriage that rode throughout Triana, and she was later honored in the church of Santa Ana. A large number of anonymous faces wanted to go to the place to say goodbye to her, but also well-known figures. Eugenia Martínez de Irujo and her husband, Narcís Rebollo, were there, as well as her daughter, Tana Rivera. All of them appeared to be heartbroken.

In some photographs captured by Europa Press, you can see the couple totally broken with pain on their arrival at the funeral. Eugenia is covered by her husband in these images. It must be remembered that the aristocrat was a great friend of the artist, and just fifteen days ago, both had been eating together with the rest of her family. Tana Rivera also reflected her pain during the funeral. With a serious face, the young woman tried to hide her face behind her sunglasses.

Francisco Rivera was present at all the key moments yesterday: both at the exit of the coffin from the funeral chapel, both at the entrance to the church of Santa Ana, and at the cemetery. And it is that Rivera was not only very close to the artist, but he keeps great moments in her memory together with the artist, who had a great relationship with her mother, Carmina Ordóñez. Cayetano Rivera's brother could not hide his sadness from journalists this Friday.

Indeed, Fran also attended the farewell with his wife, Lourdes Montes. Hours before, the designer had revealed on social networks that calls with the singer were very common, and that both had a very good relationship. Lourdes assured that she was going to miss the artist very much, one of the most prominent in the history of music in Spain.

Jiménez died early Thursday morning at his home in Seville, leaving an important void in the musical and artistic scene in general. The La Sexta program Más vale afternoon revealed on Thursday afternoon that María Jiménez suffered from lung cancer during the last years of her life. It was some statements from the singer herself that made the news public, as a preview of the documentary series María Jiménez, my world is another. The artist revealed that she hid her state of health from her friends and acquaintances to prevent them from worrying about her. Finally, she passed away this week, leaving deep sadness behind her.
