The remains of Edwin Arrieta now rest in peace. When five months are about to pass since he was allegedly murdered at the hands of Daniel Sancho in Thailand, a crime that took place at the beginning of August, the body of the Colombian surgeon has already been cremated and transported to his hometown to so that the family could bury him.
Edwin's funeral took place this Friday and the Antena 3 program And Now Sonsoles has had exclusive access to the images of the ceremony, which took place in the church of Lorica (Colombia), and in which his loved ones loved ones have definitely said goodbye to him.
"Always in our hearts" was the inscription that appeared on the obituary informing of the date and place of the funeral. There, a huge photograph of Arrieta has presided over the ceremony at all times, with the presence of her parents and her sister Darlin in the front row.
The doctor's remains have been blessed on two occasions, according to the images broadcast by the Sonsoles Ónega evening program. Darlin Arrieta has remembered his brother on several occasions between sobs, before the attentive gaze of the rest of those attending the funeral.
"My brother's body here, giving him a Christian burial, is going to lessen that pain a little," Darlin reported of the moment when Edwin's remains would arrive in his native Colombia. It was at the end of August, the same month that the murder occurred, when the Thai authorities authorized the repatriation of Arrieta's body by identifying it through the DNA of his sister.
However, although the remains that have been found have been cremated, there are still parts of Edwin's body to be found, because Daniel decided to dismember him after the murder, as the Spanish cook himself has confessed.
