Cándido Conde-Pumpido Varela continues to be one of the protagonists of today. The son of the president of the Constitutional Court was arrested a few days ago, accused of a group sexual assault along with two other individuals, by a Brazilian woman.
Since then, new information about what happened during that fateful night has continued to emerge. This past Wednesday, the videos that the lawyer's security cameras captured from inside his home were leaked, in addition to new data from his statements, as well as the police report, where it was revealed, among other things, that the lawyer was in possession of cocaine. at the time of his arrest.
The magistrate of the investigating court number 44 of Madrid released them without any precautionary measure, and did not impose a restraining order on them with the victim, although the woman maintains that she was sexually assaulted and alleges that the lawyer lost control that night due to to a combination of drugs and narcotic substances.
According to the police report, Conde-Pumpido was not answering the intercom at his home or his mobile phone. For this reason, his mother showed up there suddenly, completely desperate. It was she who called the police and told them that her son was suffering from mental problems and was undergoing treatment. Fearful that something could have happened to her - even mentioning a suicide attempt - she called an ambulance and a locksmith to force entry.
It was at that moment when Conde-Pumpido came out and explained that "he was asleep" because he was not feeling well. His mother was the one who requested that he be taken to the hospital. However, the police searched him before doing so, finding a lighter in a sock and a bag of cocaine in his shoe.
The lawyer was admitted to a psychiatric unit in Madrid, after an anxiety crisis and that alleged suicide attempt. Conde-Pumpido spent the night there, but once stabilized, he was directed to the courthouse and entered the cells, waiting to meet with the judge on duty. The judge released him without precautionary measures.
Conde-Pumpido Varela has vehemently denied all accusations and has attributed the incident to a "set-up."
The judge investigating the alleged sexual assault allegedly committed by the lawyer has also suspended the complainant's statement, scheduled for this past Tuesday, after the woman did not go to court because she had not received the summons.
The head of the Investigative Court number 31 of Madrid had summoned the complainant to testify and that testimony was pre-constituted evidence for the entire process, in a hearing to which all parties were summoned.
However, neither the complainant nor her lawyer, Beatriz Uriate, have received this summons, as sources of this accusation have explained to EFE, who have specified that the victim will go to testify as soon as she is formally summoned.
The representative of Conde-Pumpido, Ricardo Álvarez-Ossorio, was upset with the development of events, as he assured that the complainant had not presented "any justification or reason" for being absent. The lawyer, however, has not answered questions related to the state of health of his client.
Sources close to Cándido Conde Pumpido's environment have confirmed that he has been admitted to a psychiatric center since last Friday, when his relatives decided to ask the court to order this measure due to the deterioration of his mental state, since he is a person with depression. who has been affected by the complaint.
