Cándido Conde-Pumpido Jr. is admitted again to a psychiatric hospital in Madrid

The lawyer Cándido Conde-Pumpido Varela, 42 years old, son of the president of the Constitutional Court, Cándido Conde-Pumpido, has been admitted to a psychiatric unit in Madrid again, this time after an alleged suicide attempt.

The admission occurred last Friday, after a Summa ambulance, escorted by the National Police Corps, went to his home in the Canillejas neighborhood. Medical sources have confirmed that it was a court order and the request of a direct family member.

The situation of Cándido Conde-Pumpido Varela has become more complex in recent days. Last Sunday, November 5, he had been released after spending several hours in the cell due to a complaint of participation in an alleged sexual assault of a Brazilian prostitute in Madrid. Shortly after, on Tuesday, he suffered an anxiety crisis that took him back to the hospital for a few hours.

Conde-Pumpido Varela has vehemently denied all accusations and has attributed the incident to a "set-up." He presented videos from security cameras from his home that showed the complainant and him in his home, but without the presence of the other two men mentioned in the indictment. The judge, however, did not find validity in his version and ordered his release without precautionary measures.

Conde-Pumpido's lawyer, Ricardo Álvarez-Ossorio, has maintained that the complainant and his client met at a party days before the incident, and that the accusation could be the result of revenge. The woman maintains that she was sexually assaulted and alleges that the lawyer lost control that night due to a combination of drugs and narcotic substances.

The case is in the hands of the UFAM (Family and Women Care Units) of the Madrid Police Headquarters, who are investigating the complaint of the alleged victim of multiple rape. The sexual assault protocol was activated when the young woman was taken to the La Paz Hospital. The situation of Cándido Conde-Pumpido Varela continues to be the subject of attention in the media and among the public, while the investigation continues.
