The legacy of Karl Lagerfeld has been the great protagonist of the Met Gala held this past dawn in New York. For yet another year, the iconic staircase of the Metropolitan Museum has become the most spectacular catwalk of the year with impressive designs signed by Versace, Loewe and Chanel, the latter undoubtedly the most viewed brand in this edition.
There have been several celebrities who have opted for the house that was run for several years by the so-called kaiser of fashion to cause a sensation at the gala. But there have also been other celebrities who have used their look to pay tribute to the figure of the famous German fashion designer.
One of them has been Cara Delevingne, who wanted to pay a nice tribute to her mentor. The British top made an impact when she arrived at the gala with a style with which she covered what was the designer's favorite piece of clothing: the white shirt.
"The look was inspired by Karl Lagerfeld's signature white shirt, which he used to wear in public as part of his iconic tuxedo dressing style, and at home while sketching or relaxing. He was also known for reinventing white shirts using the same fabric," said Hun Kim, design director of the Kaiser's homonymous firm and creator of Cara's outfit.
On the carpet dyed in white, blue and red, Delevingne has worn a shirt-dress with a pronounced neckline, puffed sleeves and a three-meter long train. A piece that she combined with black leather leggings reminiscent of XL boots and black sandals.
But this has not been Cara's only nod to the designer's style. The model also wanted to wear the characteristic black fingerless gloves, which were Karl's fetish accessory.
In addition, the hairstyle was inspired by Lagerfeld's white mane. Delevingne has not hesitated to dye her hair platinum blonde to complete a look that has been a precious tribute to the one who was her greatest support in her early days in the fashion industry.
