Candela Peña's ordeal while filming 'The Asunta Case': ''She couldn't stop vomiting''

Series based on true crimes have become a great attraction for many professionals in the audiovisual sector. After the immense success of the Netflix series The Body on Fire, starring Úrsula Corberó and Quim Gutiérrez and which recreates the famous crime committed by the Urban Police, the American platform is now immersed in the production of a new fiction about the media Asunta Basterra crime case.

The little girl, just 12 years old, was murdered in the Galician municipality of Teo. It was her parents, Rosario Porto and Alfonso Basterra, who reported the little girl's disappearance hours before she was found. But as the police investigation progressed, the parents immediately became prime suspects and were later found guilty.

The series will star Candela Peña and Tristán Ulloa, who will play little Asunta's parents, Rosario Porto and Alfonso Basterra. In addition, the fiction began recording this past summer in various locations in Galicia.

The performer spoke about this entire production and recording process last Monday, October 23, on the La 2 Late Xou nighttime program. The space presented by Marc Giró welcomed the actress, after having interviewed another of the most emblematic faces of the network, Ana Duato.

The actress said that due to filming the series she had been left without vacations. ''I like to be working, even though I'm coming out of one... this has been incredible,'' she said. After these words, the presenter showed the viewers an image of Peña characterized as Rosario Porto. The actress revealed that at the moment it had not been decided whether the series would be called 'The Asunta Case' or 'The Murder of Asunta'.

The presenter brought to light that the interpreter had to take a test to be Rosario Porto. And according to Candela Peña, at first she was offered to play another character, but she became interested in the leading role. ''I told them, please give me a test, but give me three weeks because I have to prepare for it thoroughly,'' she stated. But filming the series was more complicated than the actress expected, since on the first day she had to face a difficult health moment.

Peña said that she was quite nervous that day because it was the first time she was going to speak like Rosario Porto and dress like her. ''When they put the wig on me I started vomiting like there was no tomorrow. And there came a time when I said something bad is happening (...) I thought that the team was not realizing it and I was vomiting in the corners,' she confessed. ''An ambulance had to come because I wouldn't stop. And what she had in the end was fear. But he had to empty me so that the one with the wig could enter,' she asserted.
