Arnold Schwarzenegger reveals he had a pacemaker after three open heart surgeries

Thousands of fans of the acclaimed actor Arnold Schwarzenegger eagerly follow the latest news on the state of health of the 76-year-old artist. The interpreter is going through a very delicate moment when it comes to health, which is why he has had to undergo surgery on several occasions.

After undergoing different interventions over the years, the American has confessed to his followers through his well-known podcast Arnold's Pump Club that he has had to stop his sports routine indefinitely after undergoing surgery.

''Last Monday I had surgery to become a little more of a machine, like the Terminator: I had a pacemaker," declared the former professional bodybuilder with his peculiar sense of humor.

According to what he reported, he underwent three different operations and the device was placed to improve the functioning of his heart. Although he has noticed a more than evident improvement, he still has a way to go. However, the actor has tried to downplay the issue: "I had surgery on Monday and on Friday I was already at a big environmental event with my friend and fellow fitness advocate Jane Fonda. By the way, when we talk about exercise being the only magic pill to slow aging, look at Jane. She's ten years older than me and she'll be 87 this year!"

As it could not be otherwise, Schwarzenegger also wanted to take advantage of the communication to thank the work of the doctors at the Cleveland Clinic: ''All the doctors and nurses took wonderful care of me and made the surgery as painless as possible.'' .

As is known, the actor has undergone different heart surgeries before. In 2020 he had to have his aortic valve replaced (along with a new pulmonary valve that he had received in 2018). 23 years earlier, in 1997, the protagonist of Conan the Barbarian underwent elective heart surgery to replace a defective congenital aortic heart valve.

The actor has acknowledged that he does not like to talk about his medical history, but he has revealed the reason why he has decided to be transparent about this issue: people in his same situation. The former politician has received messages from many people who have a bicuspid aortic valve like him, who have appreciated the visibility and strength he shows after each medical process.

''That's life with a genetic heart problem, but you won't hear me complain,'' he declared after announcing that he undergoes frequent check-ups. It should be noted that his mother died from a similar problem, something that makes him be alert and listen to the doctors without question.
