Alfonso Arús speaks out about Dani Alves' release from prison: ''There are similar cases in rich and poor people''

After 14 months in provisional prison, the Barcelona Court yesterday decreed freedom on bail of one million euros for the Brazilian footballer Dani Alves by partially upholding the appeal launched by the defense lawyer, Inés Guardiola.

The soccer player was arrested on January 20, 2023, accused of having sexually assaulted a young girl at the Sutton nightclub in Barcelona. Although he initially denied all the facts, weeks later he acknowledged having had relations with the alleged victim, but declared that they were consensual at all times.

The decision of the judicial court to grant bail to Alves until the appeal is heard has caused a great stir in our country and even outside our borders. Contrary to what the public institution thinks, thousands of people question whether this release does not represent an obvious flight risk for the Brazilian.

It should be said that although he will hit the streets after a year and two months behind bars, the elite athlete will not be able to leave our borders (both his Brazilian and Spanish passports will be withdrawn), he will have to sign weekly in court. and you will not be able to establish contact or get closer than one kilometer to the victim.

The bail of one million euros has scandalized thousands of people on the Internet, who have repeated over and over again that Justice is only "for the poor." Alfonso Arús, presenter of the morning show Aruser @ s, gave his opinion this morning and expressed that he does not agree with this popular belief.

''We have seen similar cases in rich people and poor people (...) I am not saying if it is fair or unfair because I do not understand. Now, I don't agree that it is limited to rich people,'' said the host of the La Sexta space. ''How many times have we asked ourselves 'what is this guy doing in freedom'? A lot of times,' he said.

Arús's thinking has been supported by other collaborators such as Angie Cárdenas, who has assured that what happened with Dani Alves is common in this type of crime: ''What varies is the amount, it depends on your possibilities. This practice is very common."

For her part, the victim's defense lawyer has declared that they are speechless and that they will continue fighting: ''For her (the victim) it has been a bucket of cold water (...) I cannot find a legal explanation for this resolution.' '.
