Actor Keith Jefferson, regular in projects with Jamie Foxx and Quentin Tarantino, dies

The world of cinema is in mourning. As reported by talent agent Nicole St. John to the Hollywood Reporter portal, American actor Keith Jefferson has died at the age of 53. The native of the city of Houston, a regular in Quentin Tarantino films in the last decade, acknowledged last August on social networks that he had been diagnosed with cancer. The interpreter then assured that it was not the first time he had dealt with it.

“From time to time God gives you a challenge and leaves it up to you to solve it. When I was diagnosed with cancer for the first time I had to stop, take a break and I didn't want to share it with anyone. Neither with my family nor with my acquaintances. Today I am finally in a position to share because my faith is getting stronger,” she noted on Instagram. His agent assured the film media that Jefferson was working on a new project.

St. John has not clarified which one it was, but there are two possibilities, both related to his friend Jamie Foxx: All-Star Weekend and The Burial. The first is a comedy directed by the American, while the second is a judicial drama whose protagonist duo is formed by Terrell and Tommy Lee Jones. The protagonist of Django Unchained shared a friendship with the deceased, dating back to his time at university.

"This hurts. You have been nothing but absolute grace, Keith. All your life, your heart is pure, your love is immeasurable, you were an incredible soul. We will all miss you very much. It's going to take a long time for this to heal. Goodbye my friend. I love you,” Foxx published along with a photograph with the missing man on Instagram. It was precisely their friendship that led Quentin Tarantino to award the role of Pudgy Ralph in Django to Jefferson.

From there, the Houston native collaborated two more times with the award-winning director: in The Hateful Eight and Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood. Looking back, his career took off in 1995, debuting in the film Just Them… Boys Aside, starring Drew Barrymore and Whoopi Goldberg. The actor also dedicated himself to the world of voiceover, audiovisual production and interpretation, having specialized in musical theater.

Thanks to this facet of his career he was able to participate in important projects on stage, such as Othello or Big River. In the last years of her career she collaborated again with Jamie Foxx, in the series Dad, cut yourself a little!. One of her last projects in her life was Day Shift, a vampire-themed film released on Netflix in 2022, starring Foxx himself, Dave Franco and Snoop Dogg.
