Wheels made with flip flops, the latest invention of the impossible bicycle youtuber

It is not the first time that at Moveo we have reported on the impossible bicycles that the Russian engineer Sergii Gordieiev, known on YouTube as The Q, is able to imagine and make a reality. Since two and a half years ago we published an article about an unusual bicycle equipped with toothed metal wheels to move on an icy surface, this scientific communicator based in the United States has not stopped giving free rein to his imagination.

Some time after presenting the bike with sprockets, Gordieiev shared on his YouTube channel the manufacturing process of an unusual bicycle, composed of two rear half wheels, defying all mathematical logic. This invention was followed by two other bicycles, one with triangular wheels and another with square wheels that broke with elementary geometric convention.

With these peculiar models, the Russian engineer sought to explore new possibilities and, once again, successfully challenged the established conventions in the world of bicycles.

With each new project, this Russian engineer continues to prove that creativity and imagination have no boundaries when it comes to designing truly unique and amazing bicycles. The latest of his creations consists of designing and bringing to life a bicycle that moves on flip-flops instead of on traditional tires.

In his new video, The Q shows the process of creating this quirky bicycle. First, he places one of the slippers on a metal plate and after marking the outline, he cuts it out so that the plates take on the shape of the flip-flops. In total, he makes 14 separate metal cutouts and welds them all together to create a wheel.

Metal cutouts become the base of each shoe, so the bike has real support instead of relying solely on rubber. Once you attach the makeshift wheels to your bike frame, you lift the shoe and slide it over one of the metal spikes. After tightening it with the screws, he does the same with the other 13 flip flops.

Once the front wheel is mounted, The Q does the same with the rear wheel. As you can see in the video, the wheels rotate normally, creating a hypnotizing and to some extent surprising effect.

The climax of this process is reached when Gordieiev heads to a park to test his new invention. The 14 flip-flops that support the bike, both front and back, rotate in perfect harmony with the engineer's pedals, producing a different and captivating sound. As one of the comments rightly points out, “the sound emanating from the bike is simply fascinating. Your projects are true art in motion.”

The fact that two flip flops on each wheel are black in contrast to the other 12 that are yellow is simply an aesthetic issue. At any given time, only the toes of two or three flip-flops touch the ground, as can be seen in the video, pausing during Gordieiev's walk.

After witnessing this new invention, the followers of the Russian engineer are now wondering what the new creation on two wheels will be that Gordieiev is going to surprise us with. Bets are allowed.
