This is the curious minicamper convertible into a floating home

The infinity of possibilities currently offered by the field of homes on wheels opens up a huge range of possibilities for those who are interested in this option to enjoy getaways and free time. But, among all this variety, there are alternatives that attract special attention, as is the case of the proposal that stars in this article.

This is the latest innovation from the Dreadnort firm, baptized with the name of POD (acronym for "Point of Difference"). The initial idea for this creation arose after the earthquake and tsunami that Japan suffered in 2011. With that catastrophe in mind, the company set about designing a multipurpose survival structure. The concept has evolved considerably since then but always retaining its modularity and its striking exterior in the shape of a geodesic polyhedron.

The latest version of the POD is clearly the most versatile of all that have been seen to date. And it is that, from its beginnings as a refuge to protect itself from possible natural disasters, it has progressed to being able to function as a mini-camper and even as a houseboat, all in one. As for proportions, it should be noted that the vehicle measures 5.1 meters long and 2.5 m both wide and high.

Thanks to its extremely modular cabin of 9.44 square meters, it is possible to have everything necessary for daily life in a truly compact space. Depending on the interior configuration chosen, it can be equipped with a living-dining room that can be converted into a bedroom, a kitchen and even a bathroom that can have a separate shower.

In this latest version of the POD, the cabin sits on a trailer so it can easily roll down the road. In case you prefer to use it without said trailer, the structure has a set of adjustable legs to stabilize it and also keep it elevated a few centimeters from the ground.

A 200 Ah battery and two 150 W solar panels are responsible for keeping all the minicamper systems running in the event that we find ourselves camped in an area without any type of electrical connection. This is especially useful if the POD is to be used as a houseboat.

Among Dreadnort's forecasts is the possibility of manufacturing larger variants in the future, with lengths of 7 and 9 meters. In any case, staying with the current proposal, it should be noted that, when it is put up for sale, its price will start at around 55,000 euros. The manufacturer has not yet reported the exact date on which it will start marketing, but has pointed out that it will start production in the coming months.

Due to its exterior design, the Dreadnort POD is partly reminiscent of the Polydrops P17A All Electric, another minicamper that we have already told you about in Moveo on occasion and that you can remember in the video that accompanies this article.
