These are the best-selling second-hand electric cars in Spain: one rises unstoppably

One of the handicaps that electric cars have is their price. Despite the applicable discount for the Moves III Plan aid, the outlay involved in this type of car is too high for many families. For this reason, some resort to the used market, where there is an increasing availability and variety of models. Proof of this is that the supply of second-hand electric vehicles during the first half of the year has increased by 64% compared to the same period in 2022. This is indicated by the ElectricarVO report, prepared by Ganvam -vehicle distribution employer- and the online buying and selling platform coches.net.

One of the most notable data from the aforementioned work corresponds to the sales figure, which fell by 12.3% between January and June. Below, we show the ranking of the best-selling second-hand electric models in the first half of the year. There is a model that stands out due to the commercial growth it has registered. We refer to the Fiat 500 e, which has risen in sales more than any other and is now in third position.

According to the ElectricarVO report, between January and June of this year, a total of 5,431 second-hand electric passenger cars were sold, the vast majority of which were less than five years old. The average price per unit reaches 34,661 euros, that is, twice the amount that needs to be paid for a diesel (17,217 euros). The price of electric cars does not stop growing: in June it increased by 7.3% compared to the same month in 2022.

By autonomous communities, the three with the highest average prices, close to 40,000 euros, are Asturias (39,853 euros), Murcia (39,136 euros) and the Valencian Community (39,120 euros). Madrid, curiously, has one of the lowest prices: 32,054 euros. Between Galicia, the community with the cheapest offer price (29,674 euros), and Asturias, the most expensive, there is a difference of more than ten thousand euros.

Only three communities experienced a decrease in the prices of second-hand electric vehicles during this month of June compared to the same period in 2022: Canarias (-18%), Cantabria (-19.7%) and Galicia (-11.3%).

Regarding the age of the cars, the pronounced fall (-31.4%) of the electric pre-owned (1,808 units) stands out, compared to the increase of those between 3 and 5 years old, 12.8% (1,266 units). Those that have grown the most are those between 5 and 8 years old (36.2%), of which a total of 531 units have been sold.
