The exclusive Aston Martin from the 60s valued at almost two million

The history of the automobile has given rise to some models that, over the years, have become true treasures. One of them is the exclusive Aston Martin DB4 Series V Convertible that you can see in the photographs. The great peculiarity of this rare unit is that it is not only one of the forty examples manufactured of this version but that it is the only one that was equipped with the DB4 GT engine from the factory.

It should be remembered that the DB4 was presented in 1958 and had a completely new chassis, engine and body. Regarding this last aspect, it must be taken into account that it was the work of the prestigious Italian coachbuilder Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera and that it gave the vehicle a fastback style that clearly differentiated the DB4 from any other sports car from the British firm.

The model continued to be manufactured until 1963, going through five different series. The last of them already recalled what would be its successor model, the DB5 so well known from the legendary James Bond film saga. The DB4 Convertible was launched in 1961 and 70 examples made up the Series IV and V in total.

On the other hand, it should be noted that one of the most valuable Aston Martins from the 60s is, without a doubt, the DB4 GT. It was distinguished from the rest of its range by its shorter wheelbase and by its 3.7-liter inline six-cylinder engine that offered a power of more than 300 HP. Well, that is the engine that was initially installed in the DB4 Series V Convertible unit that is the subject of this article.

Equipped with said engine, this model combines the Midnight Blue tone for the body with the red leather called Red Connolly for the interior. In addition, the car has a black canvas roof and chrome wheels. During its early years, the car remained in its “native” Britain before changing hands and crossing the Atlantic a couple of times between British lands and the United States.

Already in recent times, the owner who acquired the vehicle in 2014 decided to carry out a thorough restoration of the vehicle. This work encompassed both complex mechanical and bodywork issues, with various exterior panels manufactured by hand specifically to rejuvenate the car.

During the development of the restoration, the car was exhibited at some exhibitions such as the Rétromobile 2019 in Paris. It was not until 2022 when the work on the vehicle was completed. After all this process and, taking into account its remarkable exclusivity, it is estimated that the vehicle may currently have a value of around 1.8 million euros.
