The disastrous traffic sign in Catalonia that hurts the eyes

Traffic signs serve to guide us smoothly along roads or highways. That is why the signs must be clear and visible, well marked and, above all, they must be written correctly. But this is not always the case and sometimes obvious errors are overlooked.

This weekend a traffic poster from Catalonia went viral because it contains errors in the names of municipalities and aesthetics or design. The user @señorfonte has published it on Twitter and has pointed out the three errors, some of them flagrant.

As can be seen in the image, the most visible error is that of the town of Palamós, which has the accented o in reverse, with the open accent ("Palamòs"). The other error is the abbreviation of the Bisbal de Empordà: it is written "La Bisbal. E" instead of putting the period in the E, which is what is being abbreviated.

Finally, the user detects a more subtle error in the poster design. The letters that make up the city of Girona are not the same size: the r and the o are slightly smaller. A thinner thread error, of the type that the user had shown in a previous thread, in which he showed that the posters do not follow a common criterion and that they are of different sizes and designs.

Although traffic signs are installed by the Ministry of Transportation in accordance with state regulations, the user regrets that these errors are not even reviewed and invites the Government to apply its own regulations.
