The business talent that comes out of the Polytechnic

There is no music festival worth its salt that has not incorporated technology into its tickets, bracelets and even drinks, and in that transformation, imperceptible between the music and the jumps to see this or that artist, there is a lot of Valencian innovation.

And the Valencian company CASFID leads 80% of the renowned festival market with its smart bracelets and its various business lines, for example, the online ticket sales platform Enterticket will end in 2024 with 5.5 million tickets sold . For this innovative profile, its CEO, Joaquín Costa, received this week the honorary Entrepreneurial Ambassador award from IDEAS UPV, within the framework of the 17th edition of his awards.

Costa is a Telecommunications Engineer from the same University that now recognizes his talent, as well as that of other graduates. In this edition, the award for Business Achievement went to the company Digital Sun, a studio that creates video games and which has achieved global success with its Moonlighter proposal. The project began in 2013 with only two people and today has a large multidisciplinary team, largely people with degrees from the UPV.

The Entrepreneurial Woman Award was also awarded, which recognizes companies where the participation of women from the UPV is 50% or greater, and in which the leadership of the company is held by a woman from the UPV who is a partner in the company. Vardier Brand SL, specialized in the creation of foldable clothing items such as jackets, raincoats or t-shirts, has been awarded on this occasion.

In the Lean category, intended for companies established on or after January 1, 2020 or with a turnover of more than 30,000 euros, three awards were awarded: the first for EBHealth3, the second for Enerlind, SL and the third for Tweenvest, SL .

The Spin-Off award, for projects promoted by UPV staff based on university research activity, went to Solver Machine Learning SL, which develops artificial intelligence solutions for demand forecasting in sectors such as retail or digital legal services.

And finally, the awards in the Avanza category, for companies with economic activity and incorporated before December 31, 2019 or with a turnover greater than 30,000 euros, went to Imperia SCM; secondly in La Tienda del Apicultor, SL and, finally, in Exponentia.

At the delivery event held on Thursday, the vice-rector of the UPV, Alberto Conejero - who replaces Esther Gómez, recently appointed regional secretary of Universities of the Generalitat Valenciana - highlighted the university's ability to promote the birth of companies innovative and assured that "university entrepreneurship is so important that with these awards we want to value it and recognize it."
