Viña Esmeralda sponsors 10,000 m2 of posidonia in Formentera (Balearic Islands)

BARCELONA, 8 (EUROPA PRESS)

Viña Esmeralda has reported this Wednesday that it is collaborating with Save Posidonia Project by sponsoring 10,000 square meters of seagrass meadows of this “vital” algae in the marine ecosystem of Formentera (Balearic Islands) through a new limited edition of its wine inspired by the Mediterranean.

In a statement, the wine brand “reaffirms its environmental commitment” through this collaboration to protect an endemic plant that is a World Heritage Site and that prevents beach erosion.

Posidonia maintains and oxygenates the underwater ecosystem, where more than 400 species of plants and 1,000 species of animals feed and reproduce.

The design of the Viña Esmeralda limited edition bottle is the work of illustrator Lara Costrafreda and revolves around posidonia: the artist “has captured her vision of the Mediterranean with fish and other species that swim among the algae on the seabed, in a delicate combination of shades of green and blue painted on the glass.”

Viña Esmeralda Posidonia Edition is an organic wine from Penedès made with Muscat of Alexandria, “which infuses the wine with its characteristic fragrance, with delicate floral and fruity notes.”
