Orange Spain faces the final stretch of its merger with MásMóvil recovering its growth

Orange Spain continues the path of growth that it set in the first quarter of 2023 and closes the first half of the year with an operating result (avoid) of 582 million euros, which represents an increase of 11% compared to the same period of 2023.

Billing for the period also increased by 2.1%, up to 1,157 million. "This return to growth is based on the sustained improvement in the company's revenues, supported by a successful commercial and customer service strategy, and its cost control policy," the company explains in a note released this Wednesday.

Thus, as of June 30, 2023, Orange already has two consecutive semesters of growth in its total turnover of 1.3% in the second semester of 2022 and 2.5% in the first semester of 2023.

The teleco consolidates its business at the gates of the European Union issuing its verdict on whether or not to authorize the proposed merger with MásMóvil. Although the strategy of the telecommunications company of French origin continues its roadmap alone and during the first half of 2023 it invested 347 million euros, 15% of its income, in the deployment of fixed networks, 5G and 5G especially:

The total customer portfolio, which reaches 21,287,000 customers (2.8% more than in June 2022), of which 17,327,000 are users of mobile services, 3.7% more, and 3,960,000 fixed broadband, with a penetration of 90% of the fiber offers in the fixed broadband base through its different brands. The contract customer base increased by 5.3% year-on-year, to 15,734,000 customers after adding 787,000 new registrations in the last year.

Fiber optics continues to grow within the company's fixed business, reaching the figure of 3,578,000 customers, after adding 46,000 new net registrations in the last year.

As for television, the Orange platform currently has 1,139,000 subscribers.

Orange continues to advance in the deployment of new technologies such as 5G and 5G (the one that provides the true fast speed). The first half of 2023 ended with 5G coverage over 82.3% of the Spanish population, reaching 2,243 municipalities and 2,179,000 customers with it.

As for the 5G network (commercial name of 5G SA) that began to be deployed in February, it has already reached 32 towns in Spain, mainly provincial capitals.
