Juan Ayuso sets his sights on the 2024 Tour

The Spanish Juan Ayuso, from the UAE Emirates, revealed this Saturday that "the idea" he has for next season is to run the Tour de France for the first time, a race in which he could accompany the Slovenian Tadej Pogacar, double winner of the French round in 2020 and 2021.

Ayuso, 21 years old, is one of the most promising Spanish cyclists and, despite his youth, he has already been third in the Tour of Spain in 2022 and second in the Tour of Switzerland in 2023.

"The Jumbo cyclists were superior to everyone and were fair winners of everything this season," said Ayuso, during the presentation of the Madrid Criterium, with which he will begin to close the season to think about the next.

"I just returned from Dubai with the team. The idea is to debut in the Tour and try to see how it goes," declared Ayuso, who will share the experience with Tadej Pogacar in the French round.

"He is currently number one and it is normal for him to go with the stripes to the Tour, but as we have seen in the Vuelta, the smartest thing is to take several riders who are there," he said.

The year 2024 will also be marked by the Paris Olympic Games and the Zurich World Cup. "Of course I would love to be in the Olympics and the World Cup, which could be even better for me. What I want is to get to the Games well so that the coach can take me, although I would love to be in both events and I have that in mind" , he finished.
