Isidro Fainé warns that economic uncertainty will increase in the future

The complexity and uncertainty of the economic environment have been the protagonists of the XXII CEDE congress, held this morning in the city of Granada. This has been confirmed by Isidro Fainé, president of the la Caixa foundation and president of the CEDE foundation.

"We find ourselves facing an uncomfortable scenario, marked by complexity and uncertainty that, in all likelihood, will increase. The speed of change has skyrocketed and the interdependencies between countries and sectors are increasingly greater," said Fainé. before an audience of 2,000 people, among whom were political, institutional and business representatives.

The president of the CEDE foundation has warned about the slowness of the energy transition to confront climate change. And, in this sense, he has warned about the impact that this will have on the tourism, agriculture and insurance sectors. Likewise, he has warned about the transformative effect of demographic decline in Europe and the role of immigration. One of the real consequences of this situation is "the shortage of certain worker profiles, the difficulty in attracting young talent and extending the professional life of senior people," said the manager.

According to Fainé, another of the key aspects that will mark the future of the Spanish economy is the evolution of generative Artificial Intelligence, which plans to increase the productivity of companies. However, the president wanted to highlight the fundamental role of people's emotional intelligence in organizations.

To face all these changes - geopolitical, technological and climatic - Fainé has recommended that managers create light and flexible organizational structures that allow dialogue with regulators in good faith.

The vice president of the Government, Nadia Calviño, also participated in the congress, who corroborated the current complex situation: "the tectonic plates of the world order are moving as has not happened since the Second World War, we are facing the creation of a new board ", has said. To the managers, Calviño has recommended a leadership that transmits trust, that is open to dialogue and that is committed to diversity.

The congress has been closed by King Felipe, who has also warned of the high degree of uncertainty and the change in the economic paradigm. In his speech, he has recognized the growth of protectionism and economic conflicts and therefore has demanded that Europe commit to a reindustrialization that strengthens productive capacities.
