Income 2022-2023: 80% of returns to return have already been paid

The Tax Agency has already returned 8,301 million euros to 12.04 million taxpayers, according to data updated by the Treasury on Tuesday. The amount has jumped from the 7,293 million last year, 14% more.

This means that 80% of the refunds requested have been covered and 70% of the amounts to be paid have been paid. In the campaign that has just closed, 22.9 million statements have been submitted, 4% more. Of these, 15.02 million have left with a result to return and 6.38 million to enter, which is reduced by a slight 4% over last year.

By autonomous regions, the largest amount disbursed is in Madrid, with 1,781 million euros, followed by Andalusia, with 1,436 million, and Catalonia, with 1,275 million. The three coincide with the communities where more declarations have been presented.

The rates of refunds paid over those requested are similar throughout the country, although somewhat lower in the Balearic Islands (65.88%) and Aragón (66.01%). The highest rate is achieved in Extremadura, with 72.75% of income that requested a refund already paid.

Despite the fact that the percentages of returns executed and paid are largely similar to those of last year, there has been an "acceleration" in number (which increased by 7.7% to reach 11.1 million returns) and amount (14% and the 8,301 million mentioned). These increases are a "consequence" of the increase registered in the taxpayers' own refund requests, according to the treasury.

In the same calendar of the campaign, the wealth tax has also been paid. For this concept, 228,000 declarations have been presented that have resulted in some 1,229 million euros to be paid.
