Honda shows a preview of its futuristic electric cars: they will hit the market from 2026

Honda has internationally unveiled the Honda 0 Series, a new range of electric vehicles that it will launch on the global market starting in 2026. The presentation took place at the CES 2024 electronics fair, held in Las Vegas ( United States) from January 9 to 12. For now, the brand has shown a preview of where its future is going with the debut of two prototypes, the Saloon and the Space-Hub. As they are concept cars, they will not reach mass production as we see them, although they show the essence of what they will be.

The Saloon is a kind of sports coupe saloon with gull-wing opening doors. It is built on a new platform for electric vehicles and sustainable materials have been used for its manufacturing, both inside and outside. The instrument panel incorporates a human-machine interface (HMI) which, according to the brand, offers simple and intuitive operation.

On the move, the car offers a sporty driving experience, adapted to the requirements of the person who drives it. To do this, it uses an electronic steering system and new advances in motion management technology, which includes posture control.

For its part, the Space-Hub has a minivan-type body, with a large glass surface that gives great light to the interior. Honda explains that it has been developed with the premise of “improving people's quality of life”; Hence, the cabin is like a living room, with seats facing each other to encourage the interaction of passengers, who enjoy infotainment and augmented reality technologies.

A detail worth highlighting about these prototypes is that they debut the logo that will be mounted on the brand's next generation of electric cars, including the Honda 0 Series models.

The development of this new range of electric cars is based on three premises: that they be slim, light and ingenious. Thus, it is about expanding the design possibilities, including a low-slung vehicle style, as well as obtaining good aerodynamic performance using a thin EV platform specific for electric vehicles that allows creating a low ground clearance.

Reducing weight can improve the driving experience, with sportier handling and improved electrical efficiency performance that challenges people's internalized beliefs about current electric vehicles. And all this seasoned with intelligent technologies – for example, the incorporation of the internet of things – that make cars more ingenious.
