Elon Musk will unveil the new Tesla Roadster this year: "there will be no car like this, if you can call it a car"

Elon Musk returns to the fray to announce news at Tesla. The owner of the largest electric vehicle manufacturer in the world has confirmed on his official X profile (formerly Twitter) that at the end of the year he will present the new generation of the Tesla Roadster. Musk's message does not stop there, but he opens up great expectations for the new car by ensuring that "there will be no car like this, if you can call it a car."

With this announcement made through social networks, Musk once again brings to the fore a model that is Tesla history. The Roadster is the first car manufactured by the American firm. It went on the market in 2008, before other more popular models of the brand, such as the Tesla Model 3 or the Tesla Model Y, but in 2012 it stopped being sold after a production of only 2,450 units, according to data from the company itself.

Since then, Musk's company has been working on the development of a new generation of the two-seater without specifying a date for its arrival on the market.

In 2017, the Roadster was presented without prior notice. Coinciding with an event for the Tesla Semi, the American firm's electric truck, Musk offered some details about the two-seater and set 2020 as the year for the launch of the new generation of the sports car. Finally, it was not like that, so the Roadster joined the list of Elon Musk's unfulfilled promises.

Three years later, in 2023, the company began the reservation process for the vehicle, which accelerated rumors about its next arrival on the market until now Musk has officially confirmed it. To join the waiting list, an initial deposit of €4,000 is required upon booking, followed by an additional payment of €39,000 on account.

The final price of the vehicle is estimated to be around 200,000 euros, and the first deliveries are anticipated to take place in early 2025.

The new Roadster has been jointly designed by Tesla and the aerospace company SpaceX, which gives an idea of the level of innovation and advanced technology that this vehicle incorporates. Thanks to the collaboration between both companies, the Roadster incorporates a system of cold air thrusters in the rear that allow it to increase thrust during acceleration to achieve unprecedented performance for a mass-produced car.

According to Elon Musk's initial announcement, the new Roadster promises spectacular acceleration, reaching 100 km/h in 1 second or even less! As for the maximum speed, it is estimated that it can reach 400 km/h. Details about the autonomy have also not been revealed, which could be around 1,000 kilometers according to preliminary estimates.

The first-generation Roadster was based on the Lotus Elise chassis and was discontinued in 2012 when Tesla launched the Model S. With this new vehicle, Musk hopes to counterattack the offensive of BYD, the Chinese manufacturer that in the last quarter of 2023 It surpassed it in sales and this week it presented the Yangwang U9, a supercar that far exceeds 200,000 euros.
