The Generalitat plans to raise the price of tolls by 3.3% from January 2, 2024, the date on which the extension of the C-32 discount in Cubelles (Garraf) will also come into force. It was announced this Tuesday by the Secretary of Mobility and Infrastructure, Marc Sanglas, after the meeting of the Mesa del Penedès held in Vilafranca.
Sanglas has said that round trips to the Cubelles accesses and trunk barrier will go from a 70 to 75% bonus. Regarding Vallcarca, where the recurrence discount is 50%, no changes are foreseen. "Surely the mayors consider it insufficient, but we believe that they are balanced and fair proposals for the entire territory," he defended.
"We believe that this proposal for toll rates balances the Penedès as a territory," added Sanglas, who recalled that the bonuses are applied from Monday to Friday on working days.
In a statement, the Department of Territory has detailed that the increase in the discount from 70 to 75% for vehicles that must circulate for mandatory mobility on the section of the C-32 highway between Sitges and El Vendrell will mean a saving of 38 cents per year. day for users who make a round trip. At the same time, the Cubelles-Vendrell section remains free for internal travel every day of the week.
On the other hand, with regard to public transport, at the Penedès Mobility Table on Tuesday the start of an audit that analyzes the Vilafranca-Barcelona bus corridor was presented, where demand has increased as a result of the works on the R4 Cercanías.
Territori reinforced the service but now wants to analyze how the operators are providing it after receiving repeated complaints from users. The Department has begun carrying out inspections three times a week. The expectation is to present the results of the audit at the end of the first quarter of next year.
Also in public transport, the Department has opened the door to renegotiate with the operators the current routes that link the different municipalities of the Alt Penedès with the capital.
The Mobility Table this Tuesday also noted that the free section of the C-32 between Cubelles and El Vendrell, which has been applied since last March, has meant an increase of 1,800 vehicles on that section of motorway.
