Adaptical, artificial intelligence applied to the classroom

Alan Fusté is a computer and telecommunications engineer who worked on artificial intelligence projects. As a result of this professional experience, he proposed to Xavier Velasco, also a computer and telecommunications engineer, to collaborate together to put artificial intelligence at the service of education. "It cannot be that education continues like a hundred years ago," says Alan Fusté.

In 2018, the two university classmates began working on the development of an online educational platform that would help teachers in their day-to-day lives. “We proposed the idea to a contest at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and we won!” recalls the entrepreneur.

In September 2020, Fusté and Velasco founded the startup Adaptical and in December 2021 they went to market with their Mathew platform. The tool developed, which involved an initial investment of 30,000 euros, is capable of generating questions and answers for all kinds of subjects. In addition, it helps to manage teachers' classes, evaluate and even offers a self-correction system, saving educators management time.

Mathew is designed for educational centers (schools, institutes, universities...), companies that carry out training or educational publishers. Currently, Spain is their main market, but the entrepreneurs already plan to export their solution internationally in 2024. To improve marketing channels and apply improvements to the platform, the co-founders want to open a round of financing of approximately one million euros. , which will be added to the 170,000 euros that they raised in a first round in July 2022.

Based in Sant Cugat del Vallès and a team of 14 people, Adaptical closed 2022 with a turnover of 200,000 euros. By 2023, the objective of the engineering partners is to exceed half a million euros in turnover and end the year with a workforce of 20 people. To do so, they have the help of the Lanzadera business accelerator.
