You can now see the entire old Sau reservoir mill. The beautiful architecture of the small flour factory of Sant Romà, with its castle-style towers, has already been fully revealed in this reservoir in the Osona region, as can be seen in this series of photographs in Las Photos de los Lectores de La Vanguard.
For months now, when the upper part of the two towers were exposed, the structure of the town's old mill has been fully revealed little by little, day by day, week by week, month by month.
With the passage of time and the persistent drought, while the swamp was losing water flow (now it is at 1.2%), the old mill was emerging.
The good state of conservation of a good part of its structure is striking, allowing us to get a fairly exact idea of what it originally looked like.
The reservoir, inaugurated in 1962, covered the town of Sant Romà de Sau, the remains of which, especially the church bell tower, are visible when the level of the dammed water is low. And, as it is now at historic lows, it allows you to see the old mill, the cemetery or the ruins of the houses.
But, the great attraction this week, apart from being able to see the entire structure of the mill, is to observe how the old Gothic bridge of Sant Romà de Sau is already appearing.
This reservoir is part of a system of three swamps (along with those of Susqueda and Pasteral) that unites the counties of Osona, in the province of Barcelona, and La Selva, in the province of Girona.
