Workers from Andorra la Vella clean streets in the center of La Seu d'Urgell to show their system

A team of workers from the Common, the Andorra la Vella town council, traveled to La Seu d'Urgell this Monday to show the operation of its public road cleaning system.

The operators have carried out a pilot test with machines that use detergent and hot water under pressure and which are used to disinfect containers and other elements of street furniture.

The mayor of the capital of Alt Urgell, Joan Barrera, has been very satisfied with the results obtained and has explained that the cost of acquiring these devices, complementary to those already available to the municipal brigade, is about 200,000 euros. Its implementation in the city, as he has indicated, is linked to future budgets and their approval.

Barrera has stated that the cleaning system in Andorra la Vella is a "reference" for the La Seu City Council, taking into account that the capital of the Principality has a larger population and receives many visitors.

For his part, the Major Consul of Andorra la Vella, David Astrié, thanked the Seu d'Urgell City Council for the recognition in this area. He has also said that the basic principles of his system are the planning of actions, the technical means that are used and awareness-raising actions towards citizens.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Sustainability and Innovation of the Common of Andorra la Vella, Gerard Estrella, has detailed that the cleaning workers work in shifts, including weekends and holidays. He has also said that the capital of the Principality is very touristy and that he wants to give an image of being a "clean parish."
