I share in La Vanguardia Readers' Photos these very typical images from the month of March captured in L'Escala, in Alt Empordà, where we see this field of caps blancs (sea alder) and the snowy Canigó in the background.
In nature, the colors of flowers follow the heat of the sun. Now, the sun has no strength and, therefore, cold-colored flowers bloom.
As the temperature advances, the most colorful flowers appear in the fields, the yellow ones, the orange flowers, and already in full heat, the most powerful flowers, those with the most intense reds, such as poppies.
It is the cycle that I have seen with so many years of painting the Empordà fields. Caps blancs are common on the coast, although it is also very common to find this wild plant.
The Canigó massif is located in the French region of Roselló and the highest point is Pica del Canigó with 2784 meters. As you can see in the images, the snowy Canigó emerges painted white in the background. This mountain houses among its sites the monasteries of Sant Martí del Canigó and Sant Miquiel de Cuixà, of great architectural value.
