When does the 2023-2024 tax return campaign begin? These are the key dates

The 2023 income campaign is already very close. Once again, it is time to settle the personal income tax with a twist on previous years: the calendar is brought forward and the deadlines are set in motion earlier.

Before the official start of the campaign, procedures have been facilitated for taxpayers. Thus, since March 12, you can request a new reference number to access the procedure when the time comes. In addition, as of March 19, you can now consult the tax data available to the Tax Agency and which serve as the basis for preparing the draft. This is the economic and patrimonial information (salaries, income, rental income...) that already appears in the tax bases.

It must be taken into account that there are data that the Tax Agency misses and that will have to be verified when the declaration is made. It may be important information that allows you to access reductions or deductions.

April 3 will be the first day of the income campaign, the official kickoff. From this day until the end of the campaign, taxpayers will be able to access their draft and submit the declaration through the Tax Agency website or with the official application, from their mobile phones.

Experts usually recommend that you review the draft thoroughly, without getting carried away in a rush and simply validating it. There are plenty of days to carry out the operation with peace of mind...

The result may be to be refunded (the Tax Agency pays the taxpayer) or to be paid (the citizen has to pay). One of the most common mistakes is not reviewing the deductions to which you are entitled, which can reduce the tax bill and give you joy, especially when the result is payable. In this sense, it is necessary to ensure that the data available to the Tax Agency is correct, crucial in years in which there have been changes due to paternity and which can open the doors to deductions not enjoyed before.

For the rest of the procedures and processes, such as office service or help with a phone call, you will have to wait a little longer. Thus, the month of April will pass without any major developments. The web and mobile channel will remain open to consult the draft and submit the declaration and the next date marked on the calendar will not arrive until the end of the month.

As in previous years, telephone support will be activated first and then in-person support.

April 29 will be the first day to make an appointment to be assisted by phone and prepare the declaration with the help of an official, remotely. The last day will be June 28.

To request an appointment, you can make it online, through the Tax Agency app, by calling the automatic telephone number 91 535 73 26 or 901 12 12 24 or with the personal attention telephone number 91 553 00 71 or 901 22 33. 44, Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Calls to be attended by phone will start on May 7 at the agreed time. It is recommended to cancel the appointment if you do not have availability 24 hours in advance to assign it to another person. Before the call you must have data and documents prepared such as the DNI, the IBAN of the account, the mortgage if you access deductions... All the necessary documents can be consulted at this link from the Tax Agency.

Another of the most anticipated moments will come on May 29, when the possibility of making an appointment to be attended to at the offices of the Tax Agency or collaborating entities opens. The last day will be June 28.

To be attended to in the offices and make the declaration with the help of an official, you can make an appointment online, through the official application or by calling 91 553 00 71 or 901 22 33 44, Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. .

On June 3, face-to-face care begins by appointment. As in the case of telephone assistance, if you cannot keep the agreed appointment, it is recommended to cancel it at least 24 hours in advance so that it can be assigned to another person.

To attend the appointment you must go with your homework done: "Remember to bring the data and documents to be able to make the appointment," says the Tax Agency for the time of the meeting. Among others, you must bring the original DNI and a photocopy, both of the owner and of those who appear in the declaration, the IBAN of the account or mortgage or rental documents for deductions or other tax benefits. The details of the documents that must be brought can be consulted on this Tax Agency page.

Another point to take into account appears in the 2023 income calendar. June 26 will be the last day to submit those returns that have results to be deposited with direct debit.

June 28 marks the end of the deadlines for appointment requests. It will be the last day to request an appointment to be attended by telephone or in person, by an official in the offices of the Tax Agency or its collaborating entities.

July 1 marks the end of the campaign. The day that another tax return will end. It will be the last day to be attended to in the offices of the Tax Agency and collaborating entities; to be attended to by telephone, and to file the declaration online. After this day, the declarations would be submitted after the deadline, which may involve the payment of sanctions and fines.
