What are the keys to the PP and Vox agreement to govern the Valencian Community?

The PP and Vox have reached an agreement this morning to invest Carlos Mazón as president of the Generalitat Valenciana and to govern the Generalitat Valenciana together. The pact has been achieved by overcoming some obstacles, such as the PP's red line against the Vox candidate convicted of gender violence, which threatened the talks; and contemplates some programmatic lines that have already been advanced this morning by both parties.

Carlos Mazón will be the new Valencian president and his investiture, according to both parties, will take place "as soon as possible." Mazón thus consolidates as a new "baron" of the Spanish PP by presiding over the third most important autonomy in the hands of this party, after Madrid and Andalusia.

It will be for Vox. Santiago Abascar's party thus guarantees representation of the second most important institution in the Valencian Community. The Table of the Cortes will also have two representatives of the PP and, in principle, two of the PSPV if the Socialists do not cede a position to Compromí.

It was the great threat of the pact. But Carlos Flores will not be part of the Valencian institutions. It is the price that Vox has paid for closing the agreement with the PP. He will occupy the first place on the list for Valencia to the Congress of Deputies.

Both parties will begin talks tomorrow to define the political program of the legislature. But today some strategic lines have advanced.

Freedom, so that we can all choose: Both formations have insisted a lot during the electoral campaign on giving families greater freedom to choose the educational center. It remains to be seen how the proposal will materialize.

Economic development, to reduce unnecessary spending and boost the economy: The PP and Vox have announced their objective of reducing ministries and direct appointment positions. Also to promote a tax cut.

Health and social services, to reinforce public health and social services: In health matters, both formations agree on the possibility of handing over the management of health services to private companies, as the Valencian PP already did under the governments of Eduardo Zaplana and Francisco Camps.

Signs of identity, to defend and recover our signs of identity: Carlos Mazón announced during the electoral campaign the elaboration of a Law of Signs of Identity that, among others, will allow non-regulatory entities such as Lo Rat Penat and the Royal Academy of Valencian Culture award Valencian titles.

Support for families, to promote the birth rate, security and promotion of families: This can be a point of friction between the PP and Vox. The formation of Abascal has demanded the repeal of the national Abortion Law and gender laws. In the Valencian Community there are rules on this last issue.
