Vox rejects the proposal of the PP in Extremadura by not "resigning" to enter the government

The vice president of Political Action of Vox, Jorge Buxadé, explained this Monday that his formation rejected the proposal made by the Popular Party in Extremadura to reach an agreement because he cannot "renounce" having "members" in the Executive of this community that "guarantee and ensure compliance" with any government agreement.

This was indicated by Buxadé at a press conference from the national headquarters of Vox, where he confirmed that today there was a meeting of the "negotiating commission" between his party and the Popular Party in which "there has been no meeting", but he guaranteed that "we continue to negotiating” and with an “outstretched hand”. "Neither blackmail nor gifts, we want to defend the position of our voters," he said.

"If what is being asked of us is a mere investiture agreement, unfortunately, we have the experience that this type of agreement with the PP is not fulfilled," said Buxadé, who reported that Vox resigned from that table in the field of the negotiation even "to have a vice president" in Extremadura. Despite this, he guaranteed that "we continue negotiating."

In this sense, Buxadé wanted to clarify that both this negotiation with the PP in Extremadura and in other regions such as Murcia or the Balearic Islands, "is not about wanting to be part of the government", but about having "mechanisms to ensure compliance with the agreements". and that allow "to be there where decisions are made" to verify "that public policies are changed."

In his opinion, Vox "has to be there" depending on the "political force" and the "conditions of each of the regions." For this reason, he commented that his party continues "with all the will and with all the decision" to reach those agreements, "especially in Extremadura, where not even the PP is the party with the most votes."

In the rest of the regions, he guaranteed that Vox continues "with its hand outstretched as from the first day" to reach agreements "beneficial to the citizens" and to "banish these policies of ruin, misery, division and the confrontation between Spaniards. "It is the PP that has to decide what it wants to do this week and the next ones," he added.

Previously, María Guardiola herself used her social networks to share "the programmatic agreement" that she offered Vox. Some measures, according to her, she stressed, that "have the sole purpose of the advancement and prosperity of Extremadura, and that would make possible the change that the people of Extremadura have asked us at the polls." "That's why I hope they accept it," said the president of the PP from Extremadura.

In the proposed programmatic agreement, the PP promised to "vote for the candidate presented by Vox for the Presidency of the Assembly" in the constitutive session that will take place this Tuesday. In relation to one of the Vice Presidencies and one of the Secretaries of the Chamber, what was proposed was that the one of their formation come out.

In the aforementioned "agreement for governability and political change" that the PP wanted, it was stated that Guardiola would have "freedom to make the Government of the Junta", and must "submit to periodic monitoring of compliance with the commitments that the parties assume ”.

The PP, according to this document, proposed to provide the region with "a stable and efficient government that sets itself the main objective of combating unemployment, poverty, lack of opportunities and depopulation" by adopting "the necessary economic and social measures" to get Extremadura out of the inertia of recent years”.

There was also talk in the PP proposal of "seeking consensus and unity around the common pillars of the programs of both formations" to materialize 15 points with the "sole purpose" of improving the fidelity of families and promoting development economic and social in the region.

Among the points proposed by the PP, a comprehensive tax reduction was included, the defense of the Extremaduran countryside and the profitability of farmers and ranchers, the completion of strategic infrastructures for connectivity and development, a pact for dignified health, a pact for a "quality, free and without political bias" education, the promotion of the birth rate or support for families, to put a stop to depopulation and the march of young people.

Likewise, reference was made to the protection of industrial assets and infrastructures that are being "threatened for ideological reasons", to a commitment "to harmony and respect for the memory of all Extremadurans", to support SMEs and promote self-employment, the approval of an Industrial Plan for Extremadura 2023-2027, the efficiency of spending in the Administration, the review and relaxation of environmental barriers that "impede the development" of this region, the defense of the world rural areas, the traditions and identity of Extremadura and a new forestry policy.
