Vox considers itself discriminated against for being left out of the distribution of commissions and districts in Barcelona

The municipal group of Vox in the Barcelona City Council has protested today against the mayor of the city Jaume Collboni who is accused of "discrimination and censorship" in the distribution of commission presidencies, district presidencies and advisers. Vox will not have any presidency and will be left with two advisers.

In the distribution of the presidencies of municipal commissions, each opposition party, except PP and Vox, will preside over one of these commissions. BComú councilor Janet Sanz will chair the Ecology, Urban Planning, Mobility and Housing commission. The ERC councilor Jordi Castellana will chair the Social Rights, Culture and Sports commission. The councilor for Trias for Barcelona (Junts) Francina Vila will be the president of the Economy and Finance commission. And the Presidency, Security and Internal Regime commission will be for the deputy mayor of the PSC Albert Batlle.

Gonzalo de Oro, president of the Vox municipal group in the Barcelona City Council, has criticized "the lack of transparency" with which the negotiation of the folder that has excluded Vox has been carried out. "We are not going to accept this discrimination or this permanent censorship," said De Oro.

Regarding the distribution of district presidencies, Vox has not received any either. On the other hand, the PP that supported the investiture of Collboni, will preside over two (Les Corts and Sant Martí). Gonzalo de Oro has explained that the municipal government offers him only two advisers, which he qualifies as a "tease", taking into account that parties like the PP, which in the previous term had two councilors as Vox now has, have had six advisers. "We demand that the same criteria that have been used up to now be taken into account," he stated.

The town hall is not owned by the PSC, it is an improper shame for a democratic institution”, Gonzalo de Oro declared this Tuesday at a press conference. And he has lamented the attitude of the PP for "aligning itself with separatism and the social communists, exchanging democracy for advisors and district presidencies."

The City Council has announced this Tuesday the distribution of the positions in the presidencies of commissions, district presidencies and heads of public companies. In addition, it has announced a 4% increase in the salaries of all Barcelona councillors.
